One of Jasmine Hairstonβs favorite classes at SPU
taught her about the power of Godβs breath to fill
people with the Holy Spirit. Jasmine has βrespira,β
the Spanish verb βto breathe,β tattooed on her ribs as
a reminder, βbecause even in our very breath is Godβs
spirit, and in the Holy Spirit is power, wisdom, and
sustenance.β Jasmine, a senior theology major, has
traveled to Mexico, Guatemala, and the Dominican
Republic and hopes to return someday as a pastor. In
the meantime, she is this yearβs vice president of intercultural
affairs and wants to make reconciliation
and diversity part of the breath of campus life.
